About Us
Tropical Craft Retreats is a 8 person women’s crafting and scrapbooking retreat house located in beautiful San Diego County, Lakeside, California. It is owned and operated by a long-time crafter and diehard retreat goer, so we know what you’re looking for in a weekend getaway.
We take pride in providing a high quality, relaxing, and productive environment for our guests. From well lit full-sized crafting tables, a fully stocked kitchen, and comfortable beds to a backyard tropical oasis with a wide range of outdoor amenities.

The Crafting Space
The main crafting space consists of two large adjoining rooms with 8 tables, wall to wall windows overlooking a backyard oasis while providing plenty of natural light, central heating and air throughout, and Wi-Fi.
There is also an additional space for day croppers boasting the same amenity's.
Each person gets their own 6 foot table, with a comfortable rolling chair, Ott-light, Trash can, and cup-holder.
We provide a selection of crafting tools and supplies, including a Cricut Expression with various cartridges, Big Shot Die-cut machine with dies and embossing folders, stamps, free papers, stickers, buttons, embellishments, etc. for you to use.
Sleeping Quarters
This 3 bedroom house sleeps up to 8 people. Each room has its own ceiling-fan, USB outlets, memory foam mattresses with gel comfort toppers, pillows and linens, nightstands, and luggage racks.
The Palm Room
Sleeps 3 People with a shared California king and a twin bed, wonderful view of the pool and backyard, as well as an attached master bathroom with a walk in shower and bench seat.
The Fern Room
Sleeps 3 people with 2 full-size beds and an additional twin bed tucked away by privacy curtains.
The Shell Room
Sleeps 2 people with 2 twin beds and shares a bathroom with the fern room.
Restrooms and Toiletries
The House has 2 full bathrooms, and provides various toiletries including: bath and pool towels, washcloths, shampoo/conditioner, body wash, soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and air freshener.
There is also an open air shower by the pool that many guests enjoy using for the full tropical experience.
Kitchen and Concessions
We have a fully outfitted kitchen with bar seating, fridge/freezer, double oven, electric stove top, microwave,
2 crock-pots, blender, hand mixer, and cooking utensils
Our coffee station includes both drip and K-cup machines, electric kettle, and a selection of
coffee / tea / coca, as well as a variety of sweeteners and creamers.
Complimentary snack bar with a range of sweet and savory goodies.
Backyard Oasis
This tropical backyard has something for everybody! By day you can enjoy swimming in the pool, soaking up the sun, grilling some lunch, or just relaxing in the shade.
Outdoor amenities include: Pool/Hot tub, BBQ with bar seating, dual mini fridges, 2 fully lit covered patios with ceiling-fans, gas fire bowls, hammock, Cornhole set, and market lights framing in the property.
In ground wood burning fire pit, with seating, outdoor blankets, and marshmallow skewers.
About The Owners
Candace Romano is a independent craft teacher from the San Diego area who has been teaching card making, scrapbooking and a variety of craft classes from her home, Hobby Lobby and conventions for over 25 years.
She along with her husband Tony Romano have turned their Lakeside, CA home into a retreat center for all types of crafting, girls getaway weekends and more.
Candace & Tony enjoy attending live music venues, weekend getaways with friends, and the occasional glass of wine or cocktails.
They like socializing with their customers and since they live in a separate dwelling on the property they are always a phone call away if anything comes up during your retreat.
